Potions are consumed by dwarfs or used by them against enemies, serving then to a variety of purposes.
Some—like the health elixir—can be given individually to a dwarf through the third tab of the "Equip" menu (flask icon).
Dwarfs will use others—like the elixir of fire—only automatically, so they won't appear in the "Equip" menu.
All potions though can be found in the 4th tab of the "Craft" menu (helmet icon).
