Inventory Raw Material

Raw material also known as a feedstock or most correctly unprocessed material, is a basic material that is used to produce goods, finished products, energy, or intermediate materials which are feedstock for future finished products.[1]

For example:

Berries Berries are a raw material used in the production of oil, which is used to create lamps, elevators and to cook grilled fish.
Wood Wood is a raw material used to produce a variety of products including tools and all types of furniture. Some more elaborated furniture though will require the wood to be shapped into planks before being used in the crafting process.

Resources obtained from precipitations (such as water and snow), as well as all materials extracted from plants (like wood, leaves, resin, and roots), and all items produced or dropped by animals and monsters (like wool, bones, slime, eye, web, and zombie brain), are renewable. Others, even if available in extremely abundant quantities, like earth, sometimes stone, or even sand, are non-renewable.

While mostly all raw materials can be obtained by disassembling some complex items, very few, such as coal and arable land, can be crafted by dwarfs.

Once placed in stock, these items are normally found in the first tab of the inventory, the one with a logs of wood icon.

For the processed materials, like oil and planks, see: Category:Processed materials.
