You can also "back craft" (disassemble or dismantle) items by placing an item into the "result" area of the crafting section, at which point the craft button's appearance changes (notably, its color changes from green to red). Disassembling has a chance to provide you with some of the resources that are used to create the item. Not all resources are returned, and not all items can be disassembled.

One feature of Craft the World is a user-friendly system of recipes for crafting. The recipes are organized and easily accessible. You can craft hundreds of different items, including building blocks for houses, furniture, decorations, weapons, armor, ammunition, and food for your dwarves.

You can also Disassemble items to regain some resources from items you do not need nor intend to use.

In campaign mode, you unlock different crafting recipes as you master different tiers of the Tech Tree.

In sandbox mode, you are able to craft any item in the game from the start. but you will have no crafting recipe unless you know how to make it or find a scroll that will give you a random crafting recipe

Many of the items that can be crafted require specific Crafting stations. For example, to cook most food items, you will require campfires (or stoves); and to smelt armor, you need a smithy.
