A trap[1] can be used to catch animals, which can subsequently be moved to a farm, or killed while they are immobile. Traps only work on animals like hens and sheep, or their equivalents in non-forest worlds.

Durability[edit | edit source]

Traps are not meant for monsters, so these do not destroy traps placed on the world. The durability of traps is related to the amount of uses. A trap placed and used three times in a row, just disappears into thin air.

To make a single trap last longer, remove it after it's been twice used and place it again. Each time an animal is caught, no matter what dwarfs do with it (kill, catch or set free), it is considered one use. So avoiding those areas full of hens is advisable for the purpose of trap's longevity.
