Wooden hatch[1] is a vertical shelter entryway with low durability.
A hatch is a round wooden opening designed to be put on top of ladders and other vertical entrances. The hatch will impede movement through the entrance if it is down (closed). This will also impede movement for anyone else trying to move across the hatch (assuming they cant jump over it).
